Description
Rabbit polyclonal to MLK1.Mixed lineage kinase 1 (MLK1) is also known as Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 9 (MAP3K9), which is a serine/threonine kinase acting as an essential component of the MAP kinasesignal transduction pathway. MLK1 plays an important role in the cascades of cellular responsesevoked by changes in the environment. Once activated, MLK1 acts as an upstream activator of theMKK/JNK signal transduction cascade through the phosphorylation of MAP2K4/MKK4 andMAP2K7/MKK7, which in turn activate the JNKs. The MKK/JNK signaling pathway regulates stressresponse via activator protein-1 (JUN) and GATA4 transcription factors. MLK1 also plays a role inmitochondrial apoptosis signaling pathway, including the release cytochrome c.
