The RPS13 protein is an important component of the multichannel translocon (MPT) complex, which facilitates the insertion of multichannel membrane proteins into lipid bilayers. RPS13 operates downstream of the SEC61 complex, within the PAT subcomplex, and facilitates insertion of the transmembrane region after SEC61 initiation.
