Description
Anidulafungin is an echinocandin antifungal drug. It inhibits (1→3)-β-D-glucan synthase which is required for synthesis of the fungal cell wall. It shows potent in vitro activity against Aspergillus and Candida species (MIC₅₀ of 0.03 to 4 μg/ml), including those resistant to fluconazole or amphotericin B. It is effective in treating esophageal candidiasis in clinical trials and has an excellent safety profile.
