Mouse R-Cadherin-4 Cdh4 ELISA Kit PicoKine®

  • Background:

Cadherin-4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CDH4 gene. It is mapped to 2 H4; 2 101.86 cM. This gene encodes a member of the cadherin family of calcium-dependent glycoproteins that mediate cell adhesion and regulate many morphogenetic events during development. The encoded preproprotein is further processed to generate a mature protein. The encoded protein is involved in retinal angiogenesis during development where it plays a crucial role in the endothelial-astrocyte interactions. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

There is no detectable cross-reactivity with other relevant proteins.
  • Immunogen:

Expression system for standard: NS0; Immunogen sequence: D167-A731
  • Tissue Specificity:

Distributed widely in mouse tissues with high levels present in brain, skeletal muscle and thymus.
  • Applications:

    ELISA
  • Standard:

    10 ng/tube
  • Sample Type:

cell culture supernatants, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA, citrate).
  • Detection Range:

    156 pg/ml - 10,000 pg/ml
  • Sensitivity:

    <50 pg/ml
  • Function:

Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. May play an important role in retinal development.
