Human HO-1/HMOX1/HSP32 ELISA Kit PicoKine®
- Background: HMOX1 (heme oxygenase (decycling) 1) is a human gene that encodes for the enzyme heme oxygenase 1. It is localized to chromosome 22. Heme oxygenase, an essential enzyme in heme catabolism, cleaves heme to form biliverdin, which is subsequently converted to bilirubin by biliverdin reductase, and carbon monoxide, a putative neurotransmitter. Heme oxygenase activity is induced by its substrate heme and by various nonheme substances. Heme oxygenase occurs as 2 isozymes, an inducible heme oxygenase-1 and a constitutive heme oxygenase-2. HMOX1 and HMOX2 belong to the heme oxygenase family.
- Description: Human HO-1/HMOX1/HSP32 ELISA Kit PicoKine® (96 Tests). Quantitate Human HMOX1 in cell culture supernatants, cell lysates, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA). Sensitivity: 10pg/ml. The brand Picokine indicates this is a premium quality ELISA kit. Each Picokine kit delivers precise quantification, high sensitivity, and excellent reproducibility. Only our most reliable and effective kits qualify as Picokine, guaranteeing top-tier results for your assays.
- Synonyms: Heme oxygenase 1;HO-1;1.14.99.3;HMOX1;HO, HO1;
- CAS Number: 7732-18-5
- Gene Name: Heme oxygenase 1
- Gene ID: 3162
- UniProt: P09601
- Reactivity: Human
- Cross Reactivity: There is no detectable cross-reactivity with other relevant proteins.
- Immunogen: Expression system for standard: E.coli; Immunogen sequence: M1-M288
- Applications: ELISA
- Sensitivity: <10 pg/ml
- Function: Heme oxygenase cleaves the heme ring at the alpha methene bridge to form biliverdin. Biliverdin is subsequently converted to bilirubin by biliverdin reductase. Under physiological conditions, the activity of heme oxygenase is highest in the spleen, where senescent erythrocytes are sequestrated and destroyed. Exhibits cytoprotective effects since excess of free heme sensitizes cells to undergo apoptosis.
