• Description:

  Omentin (Intelectin-1, ITLN1) is an adipokine of 313 amino acids that is secreted by the visceral fat adipose tissue and expressed in the adipose tissue stromal vascular cells, heart, ovary, lungs, and placenta. Omentin has been demonstrated to promote insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in human adipocytes. Lower levels of Omentin are associated with obesity-related metabolic disorders such as impaired glucose regulation, insulin resistance, and Type 2 Diabetes. Recent studies have demonstrated the role of Omentin in diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammation. BioVision’s Omentin (Human) ELISA kit is designed to quantitatively measure the amount of Omentin in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. The kit is based on the sandwich ELISA principle. Test Samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and subsequently washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off with Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the amount of Omentin in the sample or standard.
