Description
BCL2 associated X protein/Bax accelerates programmed cell death by binding to, and antagonizing the apoptosis repressor BCL2 or its adenovirus homolog E1B 19k protein. Under stress conditions, undergoes a conformation change that causes translocation to the mitochondrion membrane, leading to the release of cytochrome c that then triggers apoptosis. Promotes activation of CASP3, and thereby apoptosis. [UniProt]

Reactivity
Human
Immunogen
Recombinant full-length human protein was used as the immunogen for the Bax antibody.
Clonality
Monoclonal
Clone
ARBX-1
Conjugation
Unconjugated
Field of Research
Apoptotic, Cancer, Epigenetics, Infectious Diseases, Neuroscience, Signaling Pathways
Purification
Protein G affinity chromatography
Dilution
Immunohistochemistry (FFPE) : 1-2ug/ml for 30 min at RT (1), Prediluted IHC only format: incubate for 30 min at RT (2)
Storage Conditions
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Notes
For research use only.
Applications Notes
Optimal dilution of the Bax antibody should be determined by the researcher.1. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
