Bafilomycin A1
- Background: Bafilomycin A1 is a macrolide antibiotic derived from Streptomyces griseus. It selectively inhibits vacuolar-type H+-ATPases, allowing it to be used to differentiate between different types of ATPases. Bafilomycin also acts to inhibit autophagy by either blocking autophagosome-lysosome fusion, or by blocking lysosomal degradation.
