Background
This enzyme condenses acetyl-CoA with acetoacetyl-CoA to form HMG-CoA, which is the substrate for HMG-CoA reductase. HMGCS1 (3-Hydroxy-3-Methylglutaryl-CoA Synthase 1) is a Protein Coding gene.
