Applications Notes
The Blur 8 BIO-PROBE ® labeled probe can serve as a positive control probe for human DNA sequences in both in situ and membrane hybridization applications. It can be used at a concentration of approximately 50ng/ml for Southern blots, Northern blots or dot blots. The probe can also be used for in situ hybridization applications at concentrations of approximately 0.5 to 5.0μg/ml. Biotinylated probes have been shown to hybridize to homologous DNA at the same rate and to the same extent as non-biotinylated probes.The hybridized biotinylated DNA probe can be detected by its interaction with biotin-binding proteins, such as avidin, streptavidin or antibodies coupled to fluorescent dyes or color producing enzymes.
