It has a role as a mouse metabolite, a Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite, an Escherichia coli metabolite and a human metabolite. It is a conjugate acid of a (S)-dihydroorotate. It is an enantiomer of a (R)-dihydroorotic acid.
