Surfactant Protein-D (SP-D) (Human) ELISA Kit
Description:
Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is a type of lectin that belongs to the family of collectins, which are a group of collagen-containing C-type lectins. It is produced and secreted by type II alveolar cells, bronchiolar epithelial cells, and Clara cells. SP-D acts as a pattern recognition receptor; it binds to several pathogens of bacterial, fungal, and viral origin and promotes their clearance via phagocytosis. Additionally, SP-D is known to aggregate allergens and assist in their removal by stimulating an allergenic response. SP-D also binds to inflammatory ligands and inhibits pulmonary inflammation. Due to its role in phagocytosis and anti-inflammation, SP-D could serve as an efficient target for the treatment of pulmonary diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, acute interstitial pneumonia (ARDS), and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. BioVision’s SP-D (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich ELISA principle to quantitatively measure the concentration of SP-D in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the concentration of SP-D in the sample or standard.Reactivity:
