BORNESITOL is a primary component of Hancornia speciosa, a medicinal plant known for its hypotensive properties. It serves as an active marker for the cardiovascular activity of Hancornia speciosa. BORNESITOL can lower blood pressure in rats by enhancing NO production or bioavailability, inhibiting ACE, and causing endothelium- and NO-dependent vasodilation.
