Description
Polyethylene Terephthalate (CAS: 25038-59-9), commonly known as PET, is a thermoplastic polyester polymer synthesized by the polycondensation of ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid (or dimethyl terephthalate) . It has excellent mechanical properties, chemical resistance, transparency and recyclability, and is one of the most widely used engineering plastics and packaging materials.
Synonyms
PET, Poly (ethylene terephthalate), Polyterephthalic acid ethylene ester, Ethylene terephthalate polymer, Polyethylene terephthalate resin, PET resin
Applications
1. Packaging Industry: Polyethylene Terephthalate (CAS: 25038-59-9) is widely used in the production of food and beverage bottles (such as mineral water bottles, carbonated drink bottles), food packaging films, and blister packaging due to its non-toxicity, high transparency and good barrier properties. 2. Textile Industry: Polyethylene Terephthalate (CAS: 25038-59-9) is processed into polyester fibers (PET fibers), which are used to make clothing, home textiles, industrial fabrics, etc., with the advantages of wear resistance, wrinkle resistance and easy washing. 3. Engineering Plastics: After modification, Polyethylene Terephthalate (CAS: 25038-59-9) is used to produce auto parts (such as interior trim, connectors), electronic and electrical components, and mechanical parts, due to its good impact resistance and dimensional stability. 4. Recycled Materials: Polyethylene Terephthalate (CAS: 25038-59-9) is a recyclable material (recycling code 1), which can be recycled and processed into recycled PET (rPET) for producing fiber, packaging materials and other products, in line with environmental protection trends.
