  IL-21 is secreted by activated CD4+ T cells, and its molecular structure is similar to that of IL-15. It is involved in the regulation of B cell proliferation, and synergizes with IL-15 to promote bone marrow precursor cell proliferation and NK cell proliferation, differentiation and cytotoxic activity.
