Description
Podosporin A, a sesquiterpene quinone and fungal metabolite, is derived from P. decipiens and exhibits varied biological activities. It is effective against S. fimicola and A. furfuraceus with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 175 and 50 μg/ml, respectively, and inhibits the growth of B. subtilis, S. aureus, and C. albicans in disc assays at 50 μg/disc. Additionally, Podosporin A is toxic to brine shrimp with an LC50 of 10 μg/ml.
