Description
Benzo[a]pyrene diol epoxide is a carcinogenic compound found in tobacco smoke and environmental pollutants. It is a metabolite of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compound benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), and can induce esophageal carcinogenesis. This compound has been shown to activate ERKs and p38 MAPK, marked by increased phosphorylation levels of these proteins.
