Description
N'-Isonicotinoylisonicotinohydrazide (Compound 7, 1,2-Diisonicotinoylhydrazine) is a competitive inhibitor of bacterial heme oxygenase (HO) with an IC50 ranging from 5 to 30 μM. It impedes the release and uptake of iron in bacteria and shows selective activity against HO enzymes from Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Neisseria meningitidis. This compound holds potential for research in treating infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.
