Description
Lactonamycin exhibits significant activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Enterococcus, MRSA (MIC of 0.39-0.78 μg/mL), and VRE (MIC of 0.39-0.78 μg/mL) . It also demonstrates inhibitory effects on various tumor cell lines such as L-1210, P388, S180, FS-3, Ehrlich, and B16-BL5 (IC50 of 0.06-3.3 μg/mL) .

Lactonamycin is an organic heterohexacyclic compound isolated from the culture broth of Streptomyces rishiriensis. It is an antibiotic with antibacterial activity. It has a role as a metabolite, an antimicrobial agent and an antibacterial agent. It is a member of phenols, a gamma-lactone, an organic heterohexacyclic compound and a trideoxyhexose derivative. It is functionally related to a L-rhodinose.
