(E) -8-Dodecenol is a female-produced insect pheromone isolated from the codling moth, Cydia pomonella L. It is used in research to study insect olfaction, specifically by enhancing action potential frequency in intermediate receptor neurons during electrophysiological assays, both in vivo and in vitro.
