Description
5-Methylchrysene is a four-ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and aryl hydrocarbon receptor agonist formed from incomplete combustion, notably in gasoline exhaust and tobacco smoke. It is used in toxicology research to study metabolic activation by CYP1A1/1B1 into mutagenic species, relevant for in vitro genotoxicity assays and in vivo carcinogenicity models.
