Benz-AP is a potent two-photon excitable photosensitizer whose singlet oxygen generation is inversely proportional to hCES2 activity, enabling targeted photocytotoxicity in cancer cells and tumor spheroids with low hCES2 expression. Its application spans photodynamic therapy research in vitro and in vivo for selective cancer cell ablation.
