Methyl α-D-mannopyranoside can be used as an intermediate for chemical sythesis and can target macrophages in anti-tuberculosis inhalation therapy. (In Vivo) :Methyl α-D-mannopyranoside, a competitor inhibitor of the binding of mannose by Escherichia coli, was tested for its ability to prevent infection of the urinary tract of mice with infective strains of the organisms.
