CHBO4 is a potent, selective, reversible, and competitive inhibitor of human MAO-B (Ki = 0.010 ± 0.005 μM) . It functions as a neuroprotective agent by scavenging intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), making it a useful research tool for in vitro and in vivo models of Parkinson's disease.
