Cytochalasin D is a cell-permeable actin polymerization inhibitor used in research to study cytoskeletal dynamics. It has been applied in vitro to investigate chondrogenesis, phagocytosis, and smooth muscle contraction, and in vivo to study tumor growth and metastasis in mouse models.
