Palmitoyl thio-PC is a chromogenic phospholipase A2 (PLA2) substrate. Its hydrolysis releases a thiol that reacts with DTNB, enabling convenient spectrophotometric activity assays. This substrate is widely used in vitro to study PLA2 enzymes from sources like bee venom in mixed micelle systems.
