Sulcotrione is a β-triketone herbicide that acts by inhibiting the enzyme hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) . It is widely used as a chemical tool in plant biology research to study herbicide resistance, carotenoid biosynthesis, and HPPD function in both in vitro enzymatic assays and in vivo plant studies.
