1,4-Anthraquinone is a bioactive compound exhibiting potent anticancer activity against L1210 leukemic cells in vitro by inhibiting nucleoside transport and inducing DNA damage. It also serves as a novel derivatization reagent for the HPLC analysis of pharmaceuticals like N-acetylcysteine and captopril.
