A veterinary anthelmintic with known proton ionophore activities; is identified as a potent and specific inhibitor of filarial chitinases; also shows to be an allosteric inhibitor of SPAK and OSR1.Parasite Infection Approved (In Vitro) :Closantel sodium, a known anthelmintic drug, is highly specific forfilarial family chitinases compared to those fromprotozoans and the human chitinase, human chitotriosidase.
