Vamidothion

Vamidothion is an organic thiophosphate that is N-methyl-2-[(2-sulfanylethyl)sulfanyl]propanamide in which the thiol group has been converted into the corresponding O,O-dimethyl thiophoshate. Formerly used as an insecticide and acaricide, it is no longer approved for use within the European Union. It has a role as an acaricide, an antibacterial agent, an agrochemical, an antifungal agent and an EC 3.1.1.7 (acetylcholinesterase) inhibitor. It is an organothiophosphate insecticide and an organic thiophosphate. It is functionally related to a 2-((2-hydroxyethyl)sulfanyl)-N-methylpropionamide.
