Lysostaphin Recombinant Protein

  • Description:

Lysostaphin Recombinant produced in E. coli is a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 26.92 kDa.
  • Synonyms:

    Lysostaphin; EC 3.4.24.75; Glycyl-glycine endopeptidase
  • Gene Name:

    LSS
  • UniProt:

    P10547
  • Source:

    Escherichia coli
  • Purification:

    95% as determined by RP-HPLC.
  • Bioactivity:

Assessed by the decrease in turbidity of a suspension of heat-killed Staphylococcus aureus at pH-8, 30°C. Lysostaphin is a zinc enzyme therefore EDTA is an inhibitory factor.
  • Form:

    Sterile Filtered lyophilized powder.
  • Reconstitution:

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Lysostaphin in 20mM sodium acetate, pH 4.5 for optimal stability, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions such as 200mM Tris HCL pH-8 for optimal activity.
  • Function:

Lyses staphylococcal cells by hydrolyzing the polyglycine interpeptide bridges of the peptidoglycan.
  • Shipping Conditions:

    Available
  • Storage Conditions:

Lyophilized Lysostaphin although stable at room temperature for 2 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution Lysostaphin can be stored at 4°C up to 3 weeks and for future use below -18°C. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Other Gene Names:

    Lysostaphin
  • Subcellular Location:

    Secreted.
