• Description:

  Type VII collagen fibrils are composed of three identical alpha-collagen chains, confined to the basal area below the stratified squamous epithelial cells. It serves as an anchoring fibril between the outer epithelium and the underlying stroma. Mutations in this gene are related to all forms of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. However, in the absence of mutations, the acquired form of this disease may be caused by an autoimmune response to type VII collagen. Based on the widespread existence of exosomes in various cells, changes in the content of type VII collagen in exosomes can be regarded as impoRoom Temperatureant biomarkers.
