• Description: Thymus is a small glandular organ that is situated behind the top of the breastbone, consisting mainly of lymphatic tissue and serving as the site of T cell differentiation. The thymus increases gradually in size and activity until puberty, undergoing involution thereafter. These days there are many factors that can lower our immune system efficiency and make us more susceptible to all forms of diseases: intake of alcohol, smoking, many prescription drugs, high cholesterol levels, excessive sugar consumption, allergies, food additives and stress.
