(Nle4) -α-MSH is a synthetic, heat- and alkali-stable analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It is widely used in pigment biology research, notably for its reversible melanogenic effects in amphibian skin models, and serves as a tool for studying melanocortin receptor signaling in vitro and in vivo.
