Description
Ceramide phosphoethanolamine (CPE) is a sphingomyelin analog and a major invertebrate membrane phospholipid, also present in trace amounts in mammals. It is synthesized by SMS2 and SMSr in mammals and is used in research on membrane biology, neuronal function in Drosophila, and ER stress-induced apoptosis in cellular models.
