• Background :

  Non ionic detergents like Tween 20 are used in immunoassays for diluting antibodies to lower background, and non-specific antigen-antibody (ag-ab) reaction. This detergent is also used in washing buffer from 0.1- 0.5% in all immunoassays (ELISA, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Blot assays and others) to reduce background. Tween 20 or Polysorbate 20 PEG (20) sorbitan monolaurate, lowers surface tension of water.

• Assay Protocol :

  For diluting antibodies use 1:1000 in buffers (1 ml into 999 ml) . Washing buffer use 1:500 (1 ml into 499 ml) . The optimum dilution should be determined by the individual lab. (NOT RECOMMENDED FOR DILUTION OF S100 ANTIBODIES)
