RAB1A, Clone 4G10

  • Background:

RAB1A is a small GTPase localized to the membranes of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus. It regulates vesicular trafficking between these compartments and is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. In the nervous system, RAB1A supports the transport of proteins critical for synaptic function and neuronal survival. It has been implicated in the regulation of growth hormone secretion and intracellular signaling pathways. Dysfunction of RAB1A-mediated trafficking contributes to ER stress and impaired proteostasis—key features of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. As a regulator of early secretory pathways, RAB1A is a potential target for modulating protein misfolding and aggregation in neurodegeneration.
