Assay Principle
The DetectX® Triiodothyronine (T3) Enzyme Immunoassay kit is designed to quantitatively measure T3 present in extracted serum and plasma, urine, extracted dried fecal samples, and tissue culture media samples. Please read the complete kit insert before performing this assay. This kit measures total T3 in extracted serum and plasma and in extracted fecal samples. A T3 stock solution is provided to generate standard curves for the assay and all samples should be read off the standard curve. Standards or diluted samples are pipetted into a clear microtiter plate coated with an antibody to capture sheep antibodies. A T3-peroxidase conjugate is added to the standards and samples in the wells. The binding reaction is initiated by the addition of a sheep antibody to T3 to each well. After a two hour incubation the plate is washed and substrate is added. The substrate reacts with the bound T3-peroxidase conjugate. After a short incubation, the reaction is stopped and the intensity of the generated color is detected in a microtiter plate reader capable of measuring 450 nm wavelength. The concentration of the T3 in the sample is calculated, after making suitable correction for the dilution of the sample, using software available with most plate readers.

Chemical Information

Water

Water is an oxygen hydride consisting of an oxygen atom that is covalently bonded to two hydrogen atoms. It has a role as an amphiprotic solvent, a mouse metabolite, a Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite, a member of greenhouse gas, an Escherichia coli metabolite and a human metabolite. It is an oxygen hydride, a mononuclear parent hydride and an inorganic hydroxy compound. It is a conjugate base of an oxonium. It is a conjugate acid of a hydroxide.
