• Specificity:

  This antibody reacts with human cytokeratin 5 (58 kD) and cytokeratin 8 (52.5 kD) peptides. Cytokeratin 5 is expressed by basal cells and suprabasal cells of stratified epithelium. In some cases this antibody may not recognize the cytokeratin 5 peptide in paraffin-embedded, formalin-fixed tissue. This antibody also reacts with cytokeratin 8, which is present on simple epithelial cells.
