Telaprevir is a peptidomimetic inhibitor of hepatitis C virus protease. Telaprevir inhibits the hepatitis C virus NS3-4A serine protease, blocking the viral polyprotein processing. The dose dependent process leads to decrease in viral RNA replication, decreased HCV RNA and protein levels in con1 subgenomic HCV replicon cells.
