Description
Beta-Glucuronidase is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the GUSB gene, a lysosomal hydrolase involved in the stepwise degradation of glucuronic acid-containing glycosaminoglycans. It is a tetrameric glycoprotein composed of identical subunits. The GUSB gene is mutated in mucopolysaccharidosis type VII. Miller et al.(1990) reported that the gene is 21 kb long and contains 12 exons. T-Beta-glucuronic acid acts naturally to cleave glucuronides from conjugated bilirubin to produce unconjugated bilirubin, which is then absorbed into the bloodstream.Kreamer et al.(2001) postulated that the beta-Glucuronidase inhibitor L-aspartic acid can thus block enterohepatic circulation of bilirubin. Tomatsu et al.(2002) stated that more than 45 different mutations in the GUSB gene had been identified in human patients with MPS VII, approximately 90% of which were point mutations.

Immunogen
An amino acid sequence from the N-terminus of human GUSB (DFSDNRRRGFEEQWYRRPLWE) was used as the immunogen for this beta Glucuronidase antibody.
-
Storage
After reconstitution, the beta Glucuronidase antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
-
Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
