Long description
c-Jun is a 39 kDa member of the AP-1 family of leucine zipper transcription factors, formed bythe association of Fos proteins (c-Fos, FosB, Fra-1, Fra-2) or ATF proteins (ATF-2, ATF-a) with Jun proteins (c-Jun, JunB and JunD). Phosphorylation of serines 63 and 73 by c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activates c-Jun and thereby increases AP-1 transcriptional activity. Signals relayed by JNK through c-Jun regulate a range of cellular processes including cell proliferation, tumorigenesis, apoptosis and embryonic development. c-Jun can play seemingly opposite roles in cellular function depending on the cell type. In neuronal cells c-Jun has been shown to promote apoptosis, while in fibroblasts it has been shown to promote cell proliferation and protect against stress-induced apoptosis. Phosphorylation at serine 73 has also been shown to increase neurite outgrowth.

Other description
Purified from rabbit serum by sequential epitope-specific chromatography. The antibody has been negatively preadsorbed using a non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the site of phosphorylation to remove antibody that is reactive with non-phosphorylated c-Jun. The final product is generated by affinity chromatography using a c-Jun-derived peptide that is phosphorylated at serine 73.

About
Rabbits are used for polyclonal antibody production by nordc. Rabbit antibodies are very stable and can be stored for several days at room temperature. nordc adds sodium azide and glycerol to enhance the stability of the rabbit polyclonal antibodies. Anti-human, anti mouse antibodies to highly immunogenic selected peptide sequences are" monoclonal like" since the epitope to which they are directed is less than 35 amino acids long.
