Description
Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1C, also called p57(KIP2) or KIP2, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the CDKN1C imprinted gene. The CDKN1C gene encodes a potent tight-binding inhibitor of several G1 cyclin/Cdk complexes and a negative regulator of cell proliferation. The gene is paternally imprinted, with preferential expression of the maternal allele. Matsuoka et al.(1995)demonstrated that the gene is located on chromosome 11p15.5, a region implicated in both sporadic cancers and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, a familial cancer syndrome, making it a tumor suppressor candidate. The gene contains 3 exons. Mutations of p57Kip2 are implicated in sporadic cancers and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome suggesting that it is a tumor suppressor candidate. Diaz-Meyer et al.(2005) concluded that p57Kip2 may be downregulated by multiple mechanisms including some that do not involve promoter methylation.

Immunogen
An amino acid sequence from the N-terminus of mouse p57 Kip2 (RLAELNAEDQNRWDFNFQQD) was used as the immunogen for this p57Kip2 antibody (100% rat homology).
-
Storage
After reconstitution, the p57Kip2 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
