DescriptionSolute carrier family 12 (sodium/chloride transporters), member 3, also called NCC (NaCl cotransporter) or TSC (Thiazide sensitive NaCl cotransporter), encodes a renal thiazide-sensitive sodium-chloride cotransporter that is important for electrolyte homeostasis. This cotransporter mediates sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule. By fluorescence in situ hybridization, this gene is mapped to 16q13. Mutations in this gene cause Gitelman syndrome, a disease similar to Bartter's syndrome, that is characterized by hypokalemic alkalosis combined with hypomagnesemia, low urinary calcium, and increased renin activity associated with normal blood pressure. NCC is the target for thiazide diuretics that are used for treating high blood pressure.
-
ImmunogenAn amino acid sequence from the N-terminus of human NaCl Cotransporter protein (EDKASKGFFSYRADIFVQN) was used as the immunogen for this NCC antibody.
-
StorageAfter reconstitution, the NCC antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
-
PropertiesIf you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
