  • Description
Growth arrest and DNA-damage-inducible protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GADD45A gene. This gene is a member of a group of genes whose transcript levels are increased following stressful growth arrest conditions and treatment with DNA-damaging agents. Papathanasiou et al.(1991) demonstrated that the gene is located on 1p34-p12. Sequence analysis of human and hamster cDNA clones demonstrated that the gene has been highly conserved and encodes a novel 165-amino acid polypeptide. Northern blot analysis detected moderate expression of a 1.4-kb GADD45A transcript in heart, skeletal muscle, and kidney, with little or no expression in brain, placenta, lung, liver, and pancreas. GADD45A promotes epigenetic gene activation by repair-mediated DNA demethylation.
  • Immunogen
An amino acid sequence from the C-terminus of human GADD45A (NPHSSQWKDPALSQL) was used as the immunogen for this GADD45A antibody (100% homologous in human, mouse and rat).
  • Storage
After reconstitution, the GADD45A antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
  • Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
