DescriptionEndomucin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EMCN gene. It is mapped to 4q24. EMCN is a mucin-like sialoglycoprotein that interferes with the assembly of focal adhesion complexes and inhibits interaction between cells and the extracellular matrix. Using suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH), people found endomucin a potential cell surface marker upregulated. Human endomucin is predicted to encode a 261-aa, 27.5-kDa protein with a transmembrane sequence and multiple glycosylation sites. Northern and in situ hybridization studies show that human endomucin expression is largely, if not uniquely, endothelial cell-specific. And human endomucin is present abundantly in highly vascular tissues such as heart, kidney, and lung.

StorageAfter reconstitution, the Endomucin antibody may be kept for up to one month refrigerated at +4 degrees C.For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
