Description
Integrin-binding sialoprotein, also known as Bone sialoprotein and BSP, is a major structural protein of the bone matrix. Bone sialoprotein is a predicted 35KD acidic glycoprotein that undergoes extensive posttranslational modifications and is visualized by western blot at up to 70KD. It constitutes approximately 12% of the noncollagenous proteins in human bone and is synthesized by skeletal-associated cell types, including hypertrophic chondrocytes, osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts. The only extraskeletal site of its synthesis is the trophoblast. This protein binds to calcium and hydroxyapatite via its acidic amino acid clusters, and mediates cell attachment through an RGD sequence that recognizes the vitronectin receptor. The BSP gene is mapped to 4q22.1.
-
Immunogen
An amino acid sequence from the C-terminus of mouse Bone Sialoprotein (SYYKGHGYEGYEGQNYYYHQ) was used as the immunogen for this BSP antibody.
-
Storage
After reconstitution, the BSP antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
-
Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
