  • Description
Autophagy protein 5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ATG5 gene. It is also known as APG5 or ASP, and this gene is mapped to 6q21. It is found that knockdown of the protein in hepatocytes increased triglyceride levels with oleate or a second endogenous stimulus for triglyceride formation. These knockdown hepatocytes also had increased lipid droplet number and size. ATG5 is an E3 ubiquitin ligase which is necessary for autophagy due to its role in autophagosome elongation. It is activated by ATG7 and forms a complex with ATG12 and ATG16L1. This complex is necessary for LC3-1 conjugation to PE to form LC3-II.
  • Immunogen
Amino acids 82-97 (DRFDQFWAINRKLMEY-human) were used as the immunogen for this ATG5 antibody (100% mouse homology).
  • Storage
After reconstitution, the ATG5 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20 deg. Celcius or lower. Cycles of freezing and thawing can denaturate the peptide chains of the antibodies and reduce their sensitivity and/or change their affinity. Prepare aliqotes in such a manner so that freeze-thaw cycles are minimized. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
  • Properties
If you buy Antibodies supplied by NJS poly they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.
