SpecificityRecognizes vitellogenin from killifish (Fundulus heteroclitus) and white perch (Morone americanus). Cossreacts with vitellogenin from a variety of different species including common carp (Cyprinus carpio), wrasse (Ctenolabrus rupestris), tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) and sheepshead minnow (Cyprinodon variegatus). Does not react with vitellogenin from bowfin (Amia calva) or with egg yolk from swordfish (Xiphias gladius).

ConceptScope note: A type of IN SITU HYBRIDIZATION in which target sequences are stained with fluorescent dye so their location and size can be determined using fluorescence microscopy. This staining is sufficiently distinct that the hybridization signal can be seen both in metaphase spreads and in interphase nuclei.
