Form
The Salamander Leptin was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution with 0.0045mM NaHCO3.Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
-
Storage_stability
Lyophilized Salamander Leptin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution Leptin should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Gene
Human or mouse Leptin (from Greek λεπτός leptos, "thin") the "satiety hormone", is a hormone made by adipose cells that helps to regulate energy balance by inhibiting hunger. Leptin is opposed by the actions of the hormone ghrelin, the "hunger hormone". Both hormones act on receptors in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus to regulate appetite to achieve energy homeostasis. ELISA kits and peptides and antibodies are available.
